Unboxing Asus’ ROG Phone 5, the latest Republic of Gamers gaming smartphone fresh for 2021. Here’s my hands-on review of the hardware and software, including a camera test, specs run-through, plus a closer look at the ROG Phone 5’s Zen UI. I’ll be testing the gaming chops, battery life and the various features and accessories in a separate video, hitting just after this one.
While the previous gen smartphone missed out on a UK launch, the ROG Phone 5 will be released here in March 2021 for a price starting from 799 Euros. You can upgrade the memory to 12GB and storage to 256GB for 899 Euros, while 999 Euros bags you the 16GB/256GB model.
All three versions serve up a triple lens camera, with Sony IMX686 primary sensor. You’ve got a 6000mAh battery stuffed inside the ROG Phone 5, supporting 65W Hyper Charge tech. Plus Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, offering impressive speed for gaming.
Asus has slapped on a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh and 300Hz touch sampling, plus stereo speakers. And you get all the usual gamer phone features like Armoury Crate and Air Triggers. Full review coming this afternoon testing the gaming chops with Genshin Impact, Call of Duty etc!
